Jeff Kleintop, who served as Charles Schwab's chief global investment strategist for nearly 11 years, announced his retirement last week.
"Today I am retiring. After 30 years in this industry, 25 years as a Chief Investment Strategist, and more than 10 extraordinary years at Schwab — I’ve had the incredible privilege of doing work I love, alongside people I deeply respect," he wrote in a LinkedIn post. "I wish for you all to have this same deep sense of fulfillment and gratitude that I have when you choose to end your careers."
Kleintop said he's "stepping off the field — but I’ll be cheering the Schwab team on from the sidelines. And I’m also proud to share that Michelle Gibley, who I’ve had the pleasure of working with on the global team for the past 10 years, will continue to deliver international insights."
Gibley is Schwab's director of international research.
Schwab hasn't named a new chief global investment strategist, "but the Schwab Center for Financial Research has a deep bench of experienced market strategists, including those focused on international markets, who are dedicated to helping investors make better decisions through their insights and research," a company spokesperson told ThinkAdvisor in an email on Monday.
Before Schwab, Kleintop worked for LPL Financial (2007-2014) and PNC (2000-2007) as their chief investment strategist.
