Cetera has appointed John Lefferts, formerly of Equitable Advisors, to lead Cetera Investors, its branch office affiliation unit.
In the role, Lefferts will oversee more than 450 advisors and about $19 billion in assets under advisement.
The appointment, according to the announcement, reflects the company’s commitment to the Cetera Investors model, which is suited for advisors seeking “supported independence” backed by highly scaled organization with significant capital backing.

Most recently, Lefferts was national head of business development at Equitable Advisors, where he led top-line expansion initiatives and helped to grow firm earnings through advisor recruiting and productivity improvements. At Cetera Investors, he will lead a network of regional growth teams and branch offices. Additionally, Lefferts will focus on providing branch managers, advisors and their firms with tailored operational support, according to the announcement, as well as advanced technology and turnkey marketing resources.
Sean Casey, who most recently was community leader of Cetera Investors, will become head of operations and development. He will focus on sales enablement strategies and supporting scalable growth initiatives, and ensuring operational efficiency across the organization.
