A Medicare Advantage plan supplier says it will be encouraging plan members to take care of themselves.
Humana Inc., Louisville, Ky., will eliminate co-payments for 2009 Medicare Advantage plan members who get many types of preventive care.
The no-co-payment strategy will apply to routine physicals; prostate screening; mammograms; bone-mass measurement; Pap and other pelvic exams; colonoscopies; and flu shots.
Humana also will eliminate co-payments for diabetic-monitoring supplies.
