A health insurer says it will be offering new plan members a service that tries to help patients cope with health care system bureaucracy.
Assurant Health, Milwaukee, a unit of Assurant Inc., New York, has hired Patient Care Inc., Milwaukee, to provide advocacy services.
The service will be included in the basic cost of coverage for members of new individual medical, short-term medical and Real Choices small group plans starting Tuesday.
Patient Care can provide information about topics such as the quality and cost of care, health care bills and claims, and health savings accounts.
The firm also can handle preauthorization approvals and help insureds resolve claim and billing problems, Assurant Health says
