Expanding its leadership structure to boost support for financial advisors, UBS Global Wealth Management has named Lisa Golia to the new head of field role, effective March 1, according to a memo that an executive sent to field employees Tuesday.
Golia, who has been chief operating officer of the Global Wealth Management unit since October 2023, will report to Mike Camacho, head of U.S. wealth management. She has worked in advisor support roles for over 30 years, including more than 23 years at Morgan Stanley. John Vander Zee will succeed Golia as COO.
"Lisa will have full responsibility for all field-related activities, including leadership, hiring, retention and compensation. Lisa brings more than 30 years of field experience and a deep understanding of what Advisors need to succeed," wrote Robert Karofsky, co-president of Global Wealth Management and president of UBS Americas.
"Over the past two years as COO of GWM US, she has worked closely with our Advisory Councils, listening to Advisors, visiting branches and executing on the most pressing priorities. A decisive leader who is deeply committed to improving outcomes for Field Leaders, Advisors and clients, Lisa is exceptionally well-positioned for this important role," he said.
To build on Global Wealth Management's momentum, Karofsky said, he and Camacho decided to broaden the team's leadership structure, allowing Camacho to focus more on strategic priorities, including delivering a full-service bank, developing feeder channels and enhancing firm solutions.
The group's five regional directors will report to Golia, as will the private wealth management, high-net-worth strategy and wealth advice center heads. Ben Firestein, who recently joined UBS after more than 30 years at Morgan Stanley, also will report to Golia, leading national sales and the recruiting and development of advisors and field leaders.
Vander Zee has been advisor and service platforms head at UBS since November 2023, according to his LinkedIn profile. He previously spent nearly 28 years at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.
