Orion says it's broadening its partnership with Anthropic, following the OpenAI rival's launch of new financial services plug-ins for the wealth management industry. The news comes as Orion kicks off its Ascent 2026 conference in San Diego for some 2,000 attendees.
Anthropic said early Tuesday that it has launched new artificial-intelligence tools for its Claude Cowork agent that target work in areas like financial analysis and human resources. The firm, which developed its latest tools with partners like FactSet Research Systems, has been working with Orion for over a year.
"What we're really focused on for our clients is harnessing the power of these [AI] changes and building a platform that's secure, enterprise grade, and built for privacy … ," said Orion President Reed Colley in an interview. "And it's built to actually be customized to what an advisor's doing today in their practice — and the intricacies when working on [issues] like taxes."
For its Denali AI-based enterprise advisory platform, introduced in October, Orion aims to "build in skills from Anthropic and from others to make our platform one that is able to be responsive and is cutting down the five to 15 hours a week that advisors spend on menial and tedious manual tasks, like switching between [technology] systems," Colley said.
For financial advisors, their technology partners and beyond, the executive cautions, "AI is a wedge that's going to drive change in every industry."
"It's almost like a stream of water," Colley said. "When it hits that wedge, the ones that are embracing, harnessing and driving value [can] use it as a launchpad and have some leapfrog breakouts. The ones that are bystanding, passive or slow to respond are going to decline."
Orion, he adds, is "hyper-focused on creating that ability for our advisors to have that launchpad and harness the power of what's happening …, so they can spend that time, that five to 15 hours a week, focusing and working with their clients to build trust and to build that relationship."
As of Dec. 31, Orion worked with $5.8 trillion in assets under administration and $133 billion of wealth management platform assets, supporting over 8 million technology accounts and thousands of independent advisory firms.
