Hollywood’s view of high finance is hardly flattering, as films tend to emphasize greed and scandal. There may be exceptions, but movies involving brokers, advisors and big Wall Street players typically don’t focus on pros looking out for clients’ best interests.

Perhaps thoughtful advisor-client talks about risk tolerance, tax-loss harvesting and financial goals don’t make for great cinema, although no doubt a deft screenwriter and talented director could make it happen.

See the accompanying gallery for a look at 10 films — comedies, thrillers, documentaries — that focus on Wall Street and those in its orbit, for better or worse.
