Brian McDonald
Dynasty Financial Partners has named Brian McDonald, a former Morgan Stanley executive, as a senior advisor, while taking a minority stake in Grantd, McDonald’s recently launched artificial intelligence-driven equity comp advice platform.
McDonald brings decades of leadership experience from Morgan Stanley, where he served as a managing director overseeing workplace financial solutions, equity compensation and retirement benefits. He also worked at Charles Schwab in leadership roles spanning wealth management, stock plan services and technology development.
Shirl Penney, Dynasty's founder and CEO, said in a statement that the firm is “extremely proud” to have welcomed McDonald in this role.
“His seasoned guidance and extensive leadership experience will be integral to Dynasty’s expansion and of enormous value to the evolution of the independent RIA space,” Penney said.
McDonald said he is motivated to partner with Dynasty and grateful for the firm’s investment in Grantd, which he described as an “AI-driven equity compensation advice platform helping employees and advisors make confident, timely decisions about their corporate stock holdings.”
“I am excited for the opportunity to partner with the Dynasty team and appreciate their investment in Grantd — they are true industry leaders,” McDonald said. “Several new models are taking shape in the independent arena for technology and stock plan services, and I look forward to helping Dynasty take the industry to new levels.”
Dynasty supports over $120 billion for the clients of more than 500 advisors in 55 independent firms. It likewise manages more than $75 billion on its turnkey investment platform.
