The nonprofit Ultra High Net Worth Institute has announced the launch of a networking and leadership group focused on supporting the needs of single-family office professionals.

Dubbed the Single Family Office Circle, the new group will offer participating professionals unbiased content, peer forums, practice development tools, networking resources and more. Prospective members must be either senior-level executives or professionals with at least five years' experience in a family office. The office must serve a single family, but it may operate an active business alongside that office.

The announcement comes as single-family office advisors are tackling challenges with their clients including succession planning, operational and technology concerns, cybersecurity protection and generational wealth transfers.

Tied to the launch of SFO Circle, the organization recently hired Kristen Oliveri, a wealth management journalist, to help spearhead its development. She is now UHNW Institute’s senior family office advisor and co-chair of the SFO executive advisor board.

“We began exploring the SFO Circle offering over two years ago, connecting with SFO leaders to learn more about where and how the UHNW Institute could provide value,” Oliveri said in a statement. “We heard clearly they wanted value-added content that was relevant, actionable and objective.”

The announcement cites a recent Deloitte private family wealth report that identified more than 8,000 single-family offices in operation, a 31% increase over 2019.

“We are proud to offer access to exclusive content and practice management thought leadership, programming, and training made available with distinguished faculty and experts across the wealth management spectrum,” added Steve Prostano, co-founder, chairman and CEO of the UHNW Institute. “The ultimate mission of this new offering is to provide an intellectual framework and shared understanding of how SFOs operate and evolve with education and peer to peer learning at the core of the SFO Circle.”
