On Wednesday, Oracle founder Larry Ellison briefly overtook Elon Musk as the world's richest person. While Ellison has floated back down to second place, he is still $157 billion richer than he was at the start of 2025, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
The index ranks the world's 500 wealthiest people based on their net worth.
Researchers update the rankings on days when the U.S. stock market is open. They make the update after the closing bell of each New York trading day.
