A financial advisor no longer works with Raymond James after authorities charged him with assaulting the managing director at his Greensboro, North Carolina, wealth management firm.

Donald Christopher “Chris” Brannock, 50, faces a misdemeanor simple assault charge after a July 9 incident in which he is alleged to have attacked Jonathan Reganess “by punching him several times, slamming him to the ground, and chocking (sic) him,” a North Carolina criminal summons states.

A court date is scheduled for Aug. 28 in Guilford County.

The state issued the summons on July 29. Two days later, Brannock’s registration through Raymond James ended.

Raymond James disclosed Brannock’s July 9 dismissal to regulators, saying that it happened after he assaulted a coworker, according to a report Thursday on Advisor Hub.

No disclosure notice is posted on Brannock's Financial Industry Regulatory Authority BrokerCheck page, which notes that he has had 18 years in the industry.

Brannock’s LinkedIn profile lists him as managing partner at Reganess Wealth Management Group, although he no longer appears on the firm’s website. The firm lists John Reganess as its managing director. (On BrokerCheck, Reganess is listed as Jonathan, with John as an alternate name.)

Brannock and Reganess became registered reps affiliated with Raymond James on April 16, 2021, joining from Wells Fargo Clearing Services, according to BrokerCheck.

Raymond James didn’t immediately respond to ThinkAdvisor’s questions about the matter. Brannock didn't immediately respond to a message sent through a LinkedIn message, and Reganess didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
