Thursday and Friday of last week were dates for the stock-market history books, and today has been a wild ride. Volatility is at levels not seen since the Covid crash. Clients are scared, especially those new to investing. This is not a time for catchy sayings.
They might be thinking “This time it’s different.” Clients need to know you, their advisor, are there for them. Show your clients compassion and empathy.
Step one is to call every client. If they really prefer another channel of communication, maybe you use that one. They want to know you are paying attention and see what is happening to their portfolio. Read through the gallery to think through what you might say to them now.
