RIA Captrust Financial Advisors says Carolinas Wealth Consulting — which does business as Carolinas Investment Consulting in Charlotte, North Carolina — has joined the firm.

“We feel that Captrust will help us continue to offer our team and clients the culture and experience they have been accustomed to far into the future,” according to George Edmiston, who founded CIC in 2001.

CIC focuses on serving families, endowments, retirement plans and corporations. The 20-member firm works with clients in over 30 states and oversees more than $1.4 billion in assets.

“Captrust got better today, and we are thrilled to have the CIC team join us,” said Fielding Miller, co-founder and CEO of Captrust, in a statement.

“George and I have been friends and competitors for over 20 years. CIC has had a sterling reputation in the Carolinas which will immediately improve our market opportunities and elevate our brand,” Miller added.

In mid-2024, Raleigh, N.C.-based Captrust — which has been in business since 1997 — said its total client assets topped $1 trillion. It also includes over 1,600 team members in more than 90 U.S. locations.

The private equity firm GTCR owns a 25% stake in the firm, while Carlyle also owns a minority stake.
