Cresset has appointed Melissa Karetny as its chief people officer and executive managing director.

Karetny brings more than 20 years of experience in human resources to the role, having most recently led human resources and talent integration during J.P. Morgan’s acquisition of First Republic Bank. Previously, she led HR and talent development in the retail, e-commerce, technology and media sectors.

Karetny is based in San Francisco and will be a member of Cresset’s management committee. Her appointment follows on a string of significant developments for the firm, including its 2023 merger with True Capital Management and the recent rebranding of its private investing group as Peakline Partners. In November, the firm announced it had secured a $150 million minority, long-duration investment from Constellation Wealth Capital.

Susie Cranston, president and chief operating officer of Cresset, pointed to Karetny’s status as a “trusted advisor, coach and counselor” as a key driver of her appointment.
