Raymond James has committed over $7.5 million to nonprofits dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities and support systems for Tampa Bay area students through a new charitable effort, Ready for School.
Ready for School promotes a holistic, research-backed approach to student success, investing time, resources and expertise to help students achieve goals inside and outside the classroom, the firm said. Raymond James has pledged a three-year, $2.5 million-plus annual commitment to the first recipient cohort, which includes 11 organizations that address specific student needs.
Recipient nonprofits provide students with innovative classroom experiences; summer and supplemental learning and mentorship programs; and access to clothing, nutrition, mental health resources and other basic needs, said the firm, which selected the initial cohort through an invitation-only application and review process.
Among other criteria, participants were selected based on their proven ability to address specific benchmarks linked to graduation rates and future success, such as improving students' reading proficiency through third grade and helping them pass algebra by ninth grade.
Raymond James expects to expand the initiative beyond the Tampa Bay region in the coming years.
