Bankers Life and Casualty Co. says 1,600 volunteers recently helped it collect about $300,000 in donations for the Alzheimer's Association.
Bankers Life, a Chicago-based unit of CNO Financial Group, says its fundraising team for its 14th annual Forget Me Not Day campaign included 1,600 agents, associates and Alzheimer's Association volunteers. The volunteers stood on streets in about 170 cities and traded packets of forget-me-not flower seeds for donations, the company says.
For the 2015 campaign, volunteers were able to collect about $350,000 in donations.
Bankers Life contributed $150,000 of its own cash to the campaign this year. That was the same amount it contributed in 2015.
The company contributed a total of $450,000 to the association this year.
The Alzheimer's Association helps pay for dementia-related research and support programs for people affected by dementia. Like Bankers Life, it's based in Chicago.
