The U.S. government is surprisingly cool with Bitcoin

Outgoing Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke sees promise in virtual currencies, such as Bitcoin, "if the innovations promote a faster, more secure, and more efficient payment system." However, praise of Bitcoin has been met equally with warnings of potential abuses. Despite the warnings, Edward Lowery of the Secret Service said cyber criminals have not gravitated toward the new currencies.
