In a move meant to bolster the confidence of both the public and the markets that interest rates will remain low as long as inflation does the same, the Fed may do something very uncharacteristic: It is considering making a pledge. Ben Bernanke, always wary when it comes to commitments in order to remain flexible may be throwing us a curveball during the twilight of his tenure at the Fed.
