Perhaps Mayor Bloomberg — derided as running a 'nanny state' because of his proposals to ban large sodas, amongst other unhealthy elements — had the right idea behind all the finger wagging. The mommy Mayor could have been on to something as new data shows that New York City had 5,695 diabetes-related deaths in 2011.
