According to a new study put out by the St. Louis Fed, Americans have rebuilt less than half the wealth they lost during the recession. Economists maintain that this is hindering spending power and, in turn, growth. Households watched $16 trillion dollars disappear, only 45 percent of which has been recouped. The rebound mostly has come in the form of gains in the stock market which disproportionately benefits wealthy families.
