For a demographic concerned about the future of Medicare, baby boomers sure don't understand the basics of it, according to the eHealth Baby Boomer Survey. When it came to knowing whether four common Medicare myths were true or false, boomers didn't do so well—
Myth #1: Medicare works just like regular health insurance– 40% knew this was false.
Myth #2: Medicare is free– 70% knew this was false.
Myth #3: A person can enroll in Medicare any time after they're 65, without penalty– 23% knew this was false.
Myth #4: Medicare covers everything– 80% knew this was false.
