Twitter's getting lots of criticism for a recent blog post announcing upcoming changes to its Application Programming Interface (API). The changes aren't drastic, but developers see the moves as warning signs that Twitter plans to crack down on apps that access its service. It's not great news for app companies, which make money off Twitter by selling various software products that access the service's constant stream of tweets. But it could be a good move for Twitter, which hasn't yet figured out a way to generate revenue, despite its immense popularity.
