The American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance (AALTCI) is looking for producers who got past the depressing long-term care insurance (LTCI) industry headlines this year and kept producing.

AALTCI, Westlake Village, Calif., is seeking applications for the 2012 Long Term Care Insurance Sales Achievement Awards.

AALTCI will recognize and rank producers from all states broken down into the following categories: individual LTCI, multilife LTCI, and life-LTC or annuity-LTC hybrid products that offer long-term care benefits along with other benefits.

AALTCI also has created a "Rookie of the Year" category to recognize producers who started selling LTCI in 2011.

AALTCI created the program to recognize the efforts of salespeople who help protect Americans against a risk that many are unaware of or do not want to think about.

AALTCI Executive Director Jesse Slome says in a statement that he wants winners of the award to be able to use it as a marketing tool, and as a tool for recognizing market leaders who have valuable knowledge to share with other products.

"There's no more passionate and hard-working group of professionals than those selling long-term care insurance protection," Slome says.

The application deadline is Feb. 29.
