Depending on what source you look at, roughly 58 to 64 percent of Americans haven't done any form of estate planning whatsoever. There are many reasons for this, some philosophical, some superstitious, some based on plain old logistics. Planning for your estate means planning for death, which, for many people, is the primary barrier. It also means making a fair amount of fairly tedious decisions involving distribution of assets and where and when to be buried, among other estate-based concerns. It's not fun, but it is necessary. Many people simply need the right encouragement to get started.
