Aetna Inc. has picked Benefitfocus.com Inc. to integrate online sales, enrollment and benefits management for its customers.

Aetna, Hartford (NYSE:AET), wants brokers, plan sponsors and members to be able to manage all of their Aetna benefits in one place, according to Benefitfocus, Charleston, S.C.

Aetna customers will be using the new, combined system to shop for coverage, manage enrollment, pay invoices and get customer service.

In other business growth news:

- The Nebraska Public Employees Retirement System (NPERS) has renewed a 5-year contract for retirement plan recordkeeping services with Ameritas Retirement Plans, a unit

Ameritas will continue to provide online and recordkeeping services for about 33,000 state and county employees in the NPERS plan.

The contract renewal takes effect Oct. 1. NPERS signed a preliminary renewal agreement June 20.

- TRISTAR Risk Management Inc., Long Beach, Calif., is following up on its recent acquisition of American Administrators, West Des Moines, Iowa, by hiring three people.

TRISTAR has now completed merging the American Administrators operations with its own benefit administrators division.

The newly hired employees are Steve Gauldin, vice president of operations; Darrell Van Woert, director of claims; and Janet Gustafson, director of compliance.

The benefits administration unit reports that it also is integrating and updating software systems and other systems.

- Humana Inc., Louisville, Ky. (NYSE:HUM), is adding 200 full-time positions at its national Medicare service center in Louisville.

Many of the new positions are in the company's Medicare call center.

Humana expects to end the year with 10,800 employees in Louisville, up from 9,200 at the beginning of the year.
