If you're like many agents, getting traffic to your Web site may be a big mystery. You've probably heard of social media and search engine optimization but aren't sure how all the pieces fit together and somehow magically deliver prospects to your site.
The reality is that while online marketing is complex, the way that insurance prospects get to your site is not. There are five ways that prospects get to your site.
1. They come because you asked them.
People will visit your site if you ask them to. This can be in person, on the phone or in an e-mail. Direct your prospects to relevant resources on your site and they will go there.
2. They are looking for you.
A potential prospect might have seen your name somewhere or been referred to you. Often, before they contact you directly, they first make a visit to your Web site to learn a bit about what you offer.
3. They followed a link.
It's called the Web for a reason! If you are doing a good job marketing your site, you've probably been working on developing links in from other sites. Remember that people click on these links, and they can be a great source of visitors.
4. They clicked on an online ad.
While ads are a form of links, they are different enough to warrant their own category. Online advertising through search engine marketing and other forms can be a great source of prospects to your site.
5. They found you on a search engine.
Your prospects are going to search engines to answer their insurance questions. This can be a great source of new prospects. A well-executed search engine optimization campaign will bring a steady stream of insurance prospects to your site, but it will take time and expertise.
As you build your online marketing strategy, make sure you think through each of the five ways prospects come to your site. If you get stuck with one way, try another!
