Most Americans with money think their finances will look good during the next 5 years.
Mintel International Group Ltd., Chicago, has published that finding in a summary of results from a recent survey of U.S. residents in households with at least $500,000 in investable assets.
About 80% of the high-net-worth individuals surveyed said they are optimistic about their financial situation
Even though many are optimistic about the next 5 years, 42% said they are pessimistic about the coming year. About 51% of the high-net-worth women and 36% of the high-net-worth men said they are pessimistic.
Other Mintel findings:
- 54% of the survey participants said declining real estate valuations have affected them.
- About half said they have cut back on spending or deferred spending because of the recession.
- One-third said they worry that they or someone else might lose a job.
