The Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP) Advisory Board — a body that is supposed to help the government foster the creation of a new crop of nonprofit health insurers — will hold a full-day public meeting in Washington on Feb. 7.
The CO-OP program and the CO-OP advisory board were created by Section 1322 of the Affordable Care Act, the legislative package that includes the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
In February, "the committee will hear testimony from a number of individuals with experience and expertise in the market for health insurance and nonprofit cooperative health issuers," officials say in a CO-OP advisory board meeting notice published today in the Federal Register.
Individuals can make 3-minute oral presentations at the meeting from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The board will also offer access to the meeting through a teleconference system and a live Webcast.
