AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company has named Nick Lane to be head of the retirement savings division and Rino Piazzolla to be head of human resources.
Lane and Piazzolla will both become senior executive vice presidents, according to AXA Equitable, New York, a unit of AXA S.A., Paris.
Lane previously was head of AXA group strategy in Paris. He succeeds James Shepardson, who will become chairman emeritus of AXA Distributors L.L.C.
Lane has a bachelor's degree from Princeton University and a master's degree from Harvard University. Lane also served as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Piazzolla previously was head of human resources at UniCredit S.p.A., Milan, Italy.

- Transamerica Retirement Services, Los Angeles, a unit of AEGON N.V., The Hague, Netherlands (NYSE:AEG), has added three people to its third party administrator (TPA) operation.
Matthew King will be TPA sales support manager, and Matthew Petersen and Justin Schlader will be TPA development managers.
King previously was operations manager for defined contribution TPA plan management at a unit of ING Groep N.V., Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Peterson, who will handle the Mid-Atlantic region, has been an internal sales consultant at AXA.
Schlader, who will handle the Central and Northwestern regions, has also been an AXA employee.
- Trustmark Voluntary Benefit Solutions, a unit of Trustmark Mutual Holding Company, Lake Forest, Ill., has hired David Schneeweis to be regional sales vice president for its Western region.
Schneeweis previously was vice president of sales for Assurant Employee Benefits, a unit of Assurant Inc., New York (NYSE:AIZ).
Schneeweis has a bachelor's degree in marketing from West Virginia University.
- HealthSpring Inc., Nashville, Tenn. (NYSE:HS), has hired Tom Rekart to be president of the East region and executive vice president of HealthSpring and Jason Feuerman to be president of a region that includes Maryland, Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia, Delaware, and New Jersey.
Rekart previously was chief administrative officer at Bravo Health Inc., Baltimore.
Feuerman worked for Bravo Health as a senior vice president and executive director.
