The board of WellPoint Inc. (NYSE:WLP) has named Angela Braly, the company's president and chief executive officer, to succeed Larry Glasscock as chairman March 1.
Glasscock, 61, has been chairman of WellPoint, Indianapolis, since 2005, and he was president of the company from 1999 to 2007.
Braly, 48, has been president and CEO of WellPoint since 2007. She is a lawyer who was president of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Missouri, St. Louis, a large WellPoint subsidiary.
Braly is a Dallas native. She has a bachelor's degree in finance from Texas Tech University and a law degree from Southern Methodist University.
