A surgical equipment maker is helping the American Association of Preferred Provider Organizations promote PPO support of minimally invasive surgical procedures.
The AAPPO, Washington, will use a grant from Ethicon Endo-Surgery, a unit of Johnson and Johnson, New Brunswick, N.J., to encourage PPOs to include specialists trained in minimally invasive procedures in provider networks.
The AAPPO also will identify strategies PPO plans and hospitals are using to promote use of minimally invasive procedures rather than more invasive procedures.
