Nippon Life Benefits is courting Korean companies with operations in the United States by adding Korean-speaking customer service representatives.

Nippon Life, New York, a unit of Nippon Life Insurance Company, Osaka, Japan, traditionally has focused on serving the U.S. operations of Japanese multinationals.

Nippon Life began marketing its services to Korean companies with operations in the United States in July 2009.

The new Korean customer service reps can handle questions about benefits, claims issues and eligibility, according to Nippon Life.

In addition to customer service reps who speak English, Japanese and Korean, the company has reps who speak Spanish.
