Anna Rappaport and John Towarnicky are joining the 2010 Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans.
The 15- member council, also known as the ERISA Advisory Council, gives the U.S. secretary of Labor advice about policies and regulations affecting the benefit plans governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
Hilda Solis, the current secretary, has appointed 5 new members.
The new members who come from the benefits products and services community are Rappaport, a Chicago actuary who recently retired from a post as a worldwide partner at Mercer Human Resource Consulting, a unit of Marsh McLennan & Companies Inc., New York, and Towarnicky, who is associate vice president for benefits planning at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, Columbus, Ohio.
Council members serve 3-year terms.
