A health risk analysis technology firm says a customer has used one of its products to hold down health care cost increases.
First Service Administrators Lakeland Inc., Fla., has been using the Verisk Health Explorer health care analysis software to manage its book of group health business, according to Verisk Health Inc., Waltham, Mass., a unit of Verisk Analytics Inc., Jersey City, N.J.
Use of the system cut the rate of increase in clients' health care costs by about 5 percentage points over a 24-month period, and it cut emergency room use by about 10%, Verisk says.
First Service used system results to develop and target programs such as wellness education efforts and health improvement incentive programs, Verisk says.
