Molina Healthcare Inc. has agreed to pay $135 million for a health technology arm of Unisys Corp.
Molina, Long Beach, Calif., is in the process of acquiring the health information management business of Unisys, Blue Bell, Pa.
Molina is a Medicaid managed care company that arranges for health coverage for about 1.5 million people.
The Unisys HIM business has Medicaid management information systems contracts with Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, New Jersey, and West Virginia, and it has a contract to provide drug rebate administration services for the Florida Medicaid program. The business employs 900 people and generates about $110 million in annual revenue.
Once the deal closes, the HIM unit employees will become Molina employees, and Unisys will provide transitional support services for Molina for up to 1 year, Molina says.
Molina and Unisys hope to close on the deal by June 30.
