Unum Group Corp. (NYSE:UNM) says it will give $100,000 to efforts to support the Haiti earthquake relief effort and provide up to $100,000 in matching gifts.

Unum, Chattanooga, Tenn., (NYSE:UNM) says it will split the $100,000 in direct contributions between the American Red Cross, the British Red Cross and Partners in Health, the largest health care provider in rural Haiti.

Unum also will provide a $2-to-$1 match, up to a total of $100,000, for employee donations of $50 or more to the American Red Cross, Partners in Health, Doctors Without Borders and Save the Children.

Youri Latortue, a Haitian senator, has suggested that the earthquake that hit Haiti Jan. 12 may have killed as many as 500,000 people.

- The Million Dollar Round Table, Park Ridge, Ill., has established the Haiti Disaster Relief Fund.

The MDRT Foundation will match up to $100,000 in contributions made to this fund by March 1.

The money will go to Mercy Ships, which is providing floating hospitals for Haiti, and to Heifer International, which will provide food, animals and training for the people of Haiti, to address the country's shortage of food.

In addition, during the 2010 MDRT annual meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia, the MDRT will host the "Million Meal Challenge," an effort to package 1 million nutritious meals for people in Haiti and other impoverished regions of the world.

- FBL Financial Group Inc., West Des Moines, Iowa, (NYSE:FBL) is donating $10,000 to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund to help support earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.

The fund will provide food, water, shelter and medical supplies for the earthquake survivors.

"Our hearts go out to the victims, the survivors and everyone involved in the relief effort," says FBL Chief Executive Officer James Hohmann in a statement.

- Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, Springfield, Mass., says it has received an "overwhelming response" from employees and financial professionals to the news that it will be donating $100,000 to relief efforts and expanding its matching gift program.

RESPONSES ANNOUNCED EARLIER

- International SOS Assistance Inc., Trevose, Pa., an emergency assistance services company, has sent a team to Haiti to help the people it covers get out.

- UnitedHealth Group Inc., Minnetonka, Minn., says its OptumHealth unit will provide a free emotional-support help line, at (866) 342-6892, for people in the United States who have relatives or friends in Haiti. Support line staffers can help callers deal with stress, anxiety and the grieving process.

UnitedHealth also is donating $100,000 to the international response fund at the American Red Cross, and it will match employee contributions to Global Impact, a charity that raises funds for organizations such as Doctors Without Borders, dollar for dollar up to $50,000.

- Aetna Inc. (NYSE:AET), is trying to arrange evacuations for employer clients with employees injured by the earthquake.

Aetna also is opening its employee assistance program to all employers affected by the earthquake, regardless of whether the employers have signed up for EAP services.

A foundation affiliated with Aetna has given a total of $60,000 in immediate assistance to 6 relief organizations.

- Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Minneapolis, has agreed to contribute up to $1 million for Haiti relief efforts through matching gifts.

Thrivent will give $1 for every $2 donated by Thrivent Financial members, up to a maximum of $250 in matching gifts per member donation.

Thrivent is hoping the program will raise $3 million in donations.

The donations will go to 4 Lutheran organizations: Lutheran World Relief, ELCA Disaster Response, LCMS World Relief and Human Care and WELS Committee on Relief.

- New York Life Insurance Company, New York, is donating $100,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and making up to $150,000 in matching contributions the Red Cross and other organizations.

- Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, Milwaukee, says the Northwestern Mutual Foundation will be donating $100,000 to the American Red Cross. Northwestern Mutual also is posting information about how to donate to the American Red Cross on the company's corporate website, at http://www.northwesternmutual.com.

- The CIGNA Foundation, an affiliate of CIGNA Corp., Philadelphia, is giving $50,000 to the American Red Cross, and it will match up to $50,000 in employee contributions to the American Red Cross dollar for dollar.

- Principal Financial Group Inc., Des Moines, Iowa, (NYSE:PFG) says it has made a significant financial donation to the international response fund at the American Red Cross.

- The American Council of Life Insurers, Washington, expects many member companies to give on their own, but it will be using the ACLI's International Pension Foundation, a charitable foundation, to make a contribution to the American Red Cross on behalf of the ACLI membership as a whole. - Humana Inc., Louisville, Ky., says the Humana Foundation will give $100,000 for immediate support of earthquake-relief efforts, with $50,000 going to the American Red Cross, $50,000 going to Save the Children, and $25,000 going to Doctors Without Borders.

The foundation also will match up to $50,000 in employee contributions to those 3 charities dollar for dollar.
