The University of Miami continuing education program has developed a health care advocacy certificate program.
The program will train students to understand the health care delivery and finance systems, help clients prepare advanced directives, and resolve medical billing errors, organizers say.
Marjorie Alfus, the program founder, also has founded the National Alliance of Consumer Health Advocates Inc., Palm Beach, Fla., a professional group for health advocates.
