The Employee Benefits Security Administration has published final rules relating to the federal Newborns' and Mothers' Health Protection Act.
EBSA, which developed the final rule together with the Internal Revenue Service, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has been using interim final rules to implement the law since 1998.
The rules will apply on the first day of the first plan year on or after Jan. 1, 2009, EBSA says.
