The popularity of health savings accounts and personal health coaching is growing at large employers.
Consultants at Watson Wyatt Worldwide, Washington, are reporting that finding in a summary of results from a survey of large employers conducted with the National Business Group on Health, Washington.
Many employers are reducing patients' out-of-pocket costs for some treatments and services that lower overall health care costs, such as drugs and services that help control diabetes, the researchers report.
About 33% of the employers participating in the survey will be offering HSAs, and 10% will be offering health plans that incorporate HSAs or other personal health accounts as their only health plans, the researchers report.
The researchers also found that 60% of the employers will offer employees access to personal health coaches.
