The combined net assets of U.S. variable annuities at the end of the third quarter increased to $1.5 trillion, a rise of 15.3% over roughly $1.3 trillion in the third quarter one year ago, NAVA reports.
Analyzing data from Morningstar Inc., NAVA, Reston, Va., found total VA premium for the quarter was $46.2 billion, up almost 25% over the third quarter of 2006. Third quarter net flows of $9.4 billion increased 0.6% over third quarter 2006, when it reported net flows of $9.3 billion.
NAVA found 61.2% of the total premium flow was in qualified plans and 38.8% in non-qualified plans.
