Workers with access to high-deductible health plans are not getting much on-the-job advice about health savings accounts.
Researchers at WageWorks Inc., San Mateo, Calif., have included that finding in a summary of results of a survey of 1,105 adult U.S. workers.
Only 51% of the employees with access to HDHPs get information from their employer about how an HSA and HDHP work together, and only 51% of those employees say their employers offer them access to HSAs, the WageWorks researchers report.
Only 41% of employees with access to HDHPs get lists of HSA banks from their employers, the researchers report.
About 35% of employees who have access to HSAs, flexible spending accounts or even conventional major medical coverage say their employers have not done much to explain those benefits.
WageWorks, a company that sells health account administration services, conducted the survey to promote its new open enrollment materials and its new benefits telephone assistance and Web seminar programs, the company says.
