Blue Shield of California is giving 2 executives new responsibilities to make up for the upcoming departure of Ken Wood, the company's chief operating officer.[@@]
Wood, 48, has announced plans to leave California Blue, San Francisco, by the end of the year.
Bob Novelli, the company's senior vice president of operations, will take the new position of executive vice president for customer services and corporate marketing, California Blue says. He will get responsibility for service to producers as well as service to consumers.
Paul Markovich, the senior vice president of the company's large group business unit, will get added responsibilities for the ancillary business unit, which sells vision, dental, and life insurance products.
California Blue provides or administers health coverage for 3.3 million people.
