UnumProvident Corporation has launched a new health insurance product designed to supplement employer-sponsored health care benefits.[@@]
The Chattanooga, Tenn. company says its new MedSupport product will help pay individuals' out-of-pocket expenses of hospital stays, outpatient surgeries, certain tests and emergency care.
UnumProvident says it designed MedSupport as a voluntary benefit to complement an individual's employer-sponsored health care plan by paying a lump-sum benefit directly to the covered individual.
The product will be sold only at worksites and paid through payroll deductions.
