CIGNA HealthCare will offer access to its Care Network specialist networks in 16 markets in January 2006.[@@]
CIGNA HealthCare, Bloomfield, Conn., says it has developed the Care Network program by using a variety of quality and efficiency measures for physicians in 21 specialties that account for about 95% of all specialty care.
The incentive program encourages patients to see higher-quality, more efficient doctors by providing discounts that might average about $10 to $30 per office visit, according to CIGNA HealthCare.
Markets now coming into the program include Maine; Richmond, Va.; and Columbia, Greenville and Spartanburg in South Carolina.
CIGNA HealthCare, a unit of CIGNA Corp., Philadelphia, also is offering the network to members of preferred provider network plans and Open Access Plus plans in Los Angeles and Orange County, Calif.
