Highmark Inc. has started selling high-deductible health insurance plans designed for holders of health savings accounts.[@@]
Highmark, Pittsburgh, says charges for its new PPOBlue High-Deductible policy, which is available in western Pennsylvania, vary by age, gender and tobacco usage.
Premiums for a single male nonsmoker ages 35 to 39 would be $86.70 monthly, while the rate for a female nonsmoker of the same age would be $147 monthly.
Highmark will require individuals to complete a health-screening questionnaire to qualify for the product, which will offer annual deductible choices of $1,200, $2,600 and $3,500.
