Aetna Inc., Hartford, is beefing up its group long term care insurance benefits package.[@@]
The company has expanded the informal care benefit, which can pay friends and relatives who help patients stay in their homes.
The company also has added a benefit that can help insureds modify their homes and buy special equipment, to keep the lack of a ramp or wheelchair from putting insureds in an assisted living facility or a nursing home.
Other additions include a Shared Care Benefit, which can allow an insured who dies to transfer remaining benefits to a spouse, and a benefit option that can pay for institutional care in settings other than traditional nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
