NU Online News Service, Jan. 7, 12:25 p.m. – Bankers Life and Casualty Company, Chicago, a company that sells long-term care insurance and other products to older consumers, is sponsoring a Ronald Reagan Institute research grant for the Alzheimer's Association, Chicago.

Alon Monsonego, a scientist at Harvard University, will use the grant to study beta amyloid fragments in the brain. Many researchers believe beta amyloid buildup is either a symptom or a cause of Alzheimer's disease.
