NU Online News Service, Sept. 30, 11:15 a.m. – CIGNA Corp., Philadelphia, has hired Dr. Rhonda Robinson Beale to be chief medical officer of its Eden Prairie, Minn.-based CIGNA Behavioral Health unit.
Beale will be responsible for helping the primary care physicians in CIGNA's network do a better job of treating depression, CIGNA says.
Beale previously was national medical director for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan, Detroit. She also ran a psychiatric practice that focused on substance abuse and developmental disabilities.
Beale is a member of the Review Oversight Committee of the National Committee for Quality Assurance, Washington, and a member of the Neuroscience and Behavioral Health board at the Institute of Medicine, Washington.
Beale has a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and a medical degree from Wayne State University.
