NU Online News Service, July 31, 12:25 p.m. – URAC, Washington, a health care accreditation group, says it has accredited 15 health Web sites through its new Health Web Site Accreditation Program.
The newly accredited Web sites were set up by Consumer Health Interactive, a unit of AdvancePCS Inc., Irving, Texas.
The URAC Web site accreditation accredited its first batch of 13 sites in December 2001.
The accreditation standards deal with the reliability of the health content, the editorial process used to develop content, disclosure of financial relationships, procedures for linking to other Web sites, privacy, security, and mechanisms for handling consumer complaints.
URAC also requires accredited organizations to establish procedures for keeping sites up-to-date.
