Malicious Software That Won't Go Away

While the cost of being the victim of malicious software, or malware, such as the many variants of Storm, is significant, it doesn't end with detection of the software on your system. Malware has also become increasingly difficult to remove. In recent years, malware authors have begun adopting practices that make their programs much harder to find with traditional anti-virus technology. As a result, these programs often require help from expensive computer security firms to remove an infection. Worse, some simply cannot be erased once they're embedded--and the only way to be sure your computer is clean is to scrap your system and start over.
